Broads Outing
There used to be a popular song of the fifties which went something like "Sailing down the river on a sunny afternoon" -well, that is what a party some fifty or so strong did on 14th September -the river being the Bure at Wroxham in the heart of the Norfolk Broads.
Although the morning started out dull, cold and wet, when we arrived at Wroxham the clouds cleared and the sun came out, albeit weakly, as we boarded the boat for a cruise to Horning and back.
Not only did we enjoy seeing the riverside houses and gardens but also the bird life; black swans, Great Crested Grebe, Cormorants, Mallards and Herons to name but a few. Combined with a welcome cup of tea or coffee on board, the afternoon passed very pleasantly as we cruised through Broadlands.
The next outing is in November when we pay a visit to Turner's Merry Go Round at Northampton for a festive tea and entertainment.
